AIA Policy Coverage for nCoV

The following is a general guideline of the coverage provided by AIA plans for nCoV related claims.

Death Benefit
Death due to complications arising from nCoV are covered.  This applies to any plan with a death benefit.

Critical Illness Benefit
nCoV is not one of the critical illnesses listed in the plan, since it is a new condition.  As such, there is no lump sum payout for this.

However, complications arising from contracting the nCoV may be admissible as end stage lung disease, which is one of the listed critical illnesses.

Total & Permanent Disability Benefit
nCoV is not a disability.

Disability Income
nCoV is covered under the Premier Disability Cover since the plan pays out income protection due to illness.

Hospitalisation Benefit
Hospitalisation costs are covered for all Shield plans.

Hospitalisation income benefit is also payable.

However, there is no coverage for Platinum Health plans because the plan does not pay out for any communicable disease.  nCoV infection is a communicable disease.

Accident Benefit
nCoV is not an accident.

However, Star Protector Plus will payout since it would be claimable under “Disease” in the product summary, even though it is not explicitly stated.

Pre-Natal Benefit
nCoV will be covered under the hospital care benefit although it is not explicitly listed as one of the diseases.
