The following is my answer to a Quora question: “How differently are you treated in a bank if you are wealthy?”

In the major financial centres of the world, financial institutions are very proactive.  Should you have enough in a bank to be considered a high net worth client or better, the bank will definitely offer you a better suite of services.  For one, they will assign an investment manager to your case.  The investment manager will not only manage your funds, but he will also have a team to advise on taxation, fund movements and credit lines.  The bank will offer you loans; you do not have to apply for it.  Having more funds also affords you access to special investment accounts, and fixed deposit offers that pay far more than what is offered retail customers.  Money definitely has privileges.
