Quora Answer: How Do I Stop Using Too Many Conjunctions in My Writing & Speech?

The following is my answer to a Quora question: “I use too many conjunctions in my writing, and while talking.  How do I stop?”

With regards your writing, try and write in shorter sentences.  Shorter sentences are easier to read, and the story is easier to follow.  If necessary, try writing exercises to reinforce this.  With regards to speaking, slow down when you speak.  Allow pauses between clauses, so that they become natural full stops.  You are joining sentences because of your need to fill that space.
