On the 10th July, I visited Toa Payoh South
Community Club Toastmasters Club, as project evaluator.
This was my 7th club visit, on the 10th day of the
Toastmaster Year.
I would like to congratulate the new Executive Committee on their
installation. I am sure that with Li
Shan Shan as President, and Mohamad Hijazi bin Sudarmaji as their peerless Vice-President, Public Relations, they will
bring the club to new heights. The installing officer was Lye Rong Fang, who
managed to inject gravitas into the situation. Also present was Toastmasters
District 80 Division D Director, Aaron Ting King Hean, and past directors, Ghee
Jian Hui, and Gerald Ong Wen Shun.
Our toastmaster of the day was Vasanthi Jagannathan Ravi.
Li Shan Shan gave a hilarious speech about counting
calories - just before the refreshment break.
It made us unnecessarily conscious about the food we ate.
Mohamad Hijazi bin Sudarmaji managed to squeeze psychology,
addiction to pornography, and animal behaviour into a seven-minute speech. He had enough material to turn that into three
separate speeches, such was his accomplishment.
Naveen Giri spoke about the importance of names, and
addressed every person present by their name.
That was an impressive feat, in and of itself, and drove home the point
about how names matter.
Our Club Growth Director, Jackson Chua, dropped by to
explain the role of his committee in supporting all of us, at our respective clubs. He laid forth, in a few minutes, his vision
of helping growth, and personal advancement.
