On the 14th July 2019, I visited Tampines
West Toastmasters Club, as language evaluator.
This was my 9th club visit, on the 14th day of the
Toastmasters year.
This was the third part of the four-part series of
speech craft organised by Tampines West Toastmasters Club, under the able
leadership of Stella Lo M. Y. Our Toastmaster
of the Day was Jason Lim. The table
topics master was Teh Guo Pei. Our Ah
Counter was Bridget Nicole Lee. We even had a
general evaluator, Senthil Kumar Narayanasamy.
Due to the parameters of this particular speechcraft,
every speech was an icebreaker by new members. The theme was “Who am I”, or some variation of
it. We applaud them for taking their first
step in acquiring the skill of public speaking.
Best Speaker: Kirby Lim Aik Boon;
Best Evaluator: Losheini Ravindran; and
Best Table Topics Speaker: Guest.
Since this was a speechcraft for new speakers, in my
language evaluation, I brought them back to the basics of rhetoric as a means
to advance an argument, and an agenda.
These are skills that they will apply in their everyday lives, and that
is why they are here.
The next, and final edition of this speechcraft, was held
on the 26th July.
