The following is my answer to a Quora
question: “What
will you choose: love or money?”
If this were a question asked before any commitments were made, it would be money. Wealth gives you options. Terence Alan “Spike” Milligan said, “Money cannot buy you happiness, but it does bring you a more pleasant form of misery.”
Love is a connection we develop from an existing relationship based on values and opportunity. And if you lose that person, there is always this idea that there is a replacement somewhere. Theoretically, no one is irreplaceable; no one is special. It is sentiment that deludes people into believing this or that person is their soul mate or “one true love”. People change, and they betray us, they hurt us, they take away the best parts of us, and destroy it. Take money.
