The following is my answer to a Quora
question: “Can Singapore-registered yachts docking in Singapore, store
firearms and ammunition for their own use?”
Whilst it is not encouraged, the use of firearms and private military contractors on vessels are allowed, as per MPA notices. Singapore-registered vessels must comply with the strict rules of firearms ownership. These are essentially the same regulations for the application of a firearms license, storage on the vessel, and the requirement that the arms locker be locked, and sealed by customs in port.
The rules for the sealing of the arms locker also applies to foreign vessels docking, anchoring, or otherwise underway in Singapore waters, but not making way in littoral passage. The failure to do so, resulting in the discharge or loss of firearms or components, have serious legal consequences.
