The following is my
answer to a Quora question: “Is it illegal to depict Jesus or
Buddha on our brand logo in Singapore?”
It is an offence under the Maintenance of Religious
Harmony Act (Cap 167A) to offend the religious sensibilities of others. Doing so would likely be considered as such,
and invite prosecution.
That aside, Singaporeans are generally religious
conservatives, and this is not an example of successful branding. I fail to see the logic of immediately
alienating a large part of the population, and a potential customer base.
