On the 14th
September 2019, I was at West Coast Toastmasters Club, as Workshop
Speaker. This was my 60th
club visit on the 76th day of the Toastmaster year.
The
Toastmaster of the Day was Hiroshi Kaneko.
The timer was Livio Deltin. The
ah counter was Kim Tan. The table topics
master was Patrick Oei Kian Seng. The
sergeant-at-arms was Joey Chua.
Joey
Chua spoke about the concept of being a zero.
Unfortunately, I missed the speech since I was from a late appointment.
Jenny
Lim spoke about the need for us to eat more vegetables for health. She had detailed slides on the effects of the
lack of phytovitamins has on our health.
She also spoke about the need for more critical illness coverage, as a
consequence of this food deficiency.
Dhruv
Bais gave his icebreaker speech, telling us about his background, and his
aspirations.
Muhammad
Sufian Bustamam told us he came to Singapore, after marrying a Singaporean
overseas. He went into some of the
challenges he overcame to fit in, and start a new life here. He shifted here from Sacramento, California.
Yumi
Eum gave us a hilarious speech about being single, from Korea, when there is
constant pressure for her to get married.
She spoke about the benefits of being single, and then said, at the very
end, she would throw them all away to find the right person. That has to be the most aggressive dating
pitch I have ever heard. She had the
room in stitches.
I
gave a 30-minute presentation about public speaking, rhetoric, and how to
command an audience.
The
evaluators were Hou Dong Xia, Nazgulya Zakiyeva, Sam Chou, Frank Perera, and
McRhon Banderlipe.
