The following is my answer to a Quora question: “Can
a last will and testament be handwritten?”
That depends on where you are. This can be very confusing in a place such as
the US, since it varies from county to county, not just state to state. There are parts of the world that do not
allow handwritten wills. The reason is
because they may be difficult to interpret, when the handwriting is unclear. There are other parts of the world, where
there is no specific stipulation that the will must be typed out. For example, Singapore admits the veracity of
wills written by hand.
