On the 15th September 2019, I was at TLCS
Bilingual Toastmasters Club, as Project Speaker. This was my 61st club visit on the
77th day of the Toastmaster year.
The Toastmaster of the Day was Karthick Chidambaram. The language evaluator was Thomas Chen Jun Ying. The timer was Nanthini. The table topics master was Mary Priscilla Benjamin. The sergeant-at-arms was Benjamin Manickam.
Kris Frank Martis spoke about the concept of leadership, and
the eight points of a leader, as taken from Forbes magazine. They are: Sincere enthusiasm, great
communication skills, loyalty, decisiveness, managerial competence,
empowerment, and charisma.
I spoke about the need for a speaker to be credible,
the art of rhetoric, and the need to channel the audience.
Benjamin Manickam did a project where he presented an award to
Yeo Chai Tun, for his exemplary service.
Chai Tun actually understands Tamil very well, although he does not speak
it.
Senthil Kumar Narayanasamy did a project, where he was
on a radio show. He spoke about content
of character, the need to improve one’s communication skills, and the role of
Toastmasters in all that.
The evaluators were Naveen Giri, Elicia Tan Shuh Fen, Thomas
Chen Jun Ying, and Sam Chou. The general evaluator was
Jackson Chua.
Best Speaker: Myself;
Best Evaluator: Naveen Giri; and
Best Table Topics Speaker: Guests.
