Quora Answer: Are There Sample Scripts to Prepare My Ice Breaker Speech?

The following is my answer to a Quora question: “I am going to join a Toastmasters club, and I need to give the first speech on myself.  Are there any sample scripts or videos I can refer to?”

When you join a Toastmasters club, and undertake a project pathway, you will gain access to the resources on the Toastmaster International website, from project manuals, to management tools, to even videos of winning speeches.  There is a wealth of resources and material made available to you.

Additionally, you will be assigned a mentor, who will guide along in your journey to being an effective communicator, and public speaker.  In the course of that Toastmaster journey, you are also exposed to established speakers, and have a chance to network, and learn from them.

Furthermore, many Toastmaster clubs run workshops on speechcraft, communication, and public speaking.  There are also events, and contests.  In summary, you pay that fee for access to the resources, and exposure to the network of successful speakers, facilitators, and trainers.
