The following is my
answer to a Quora question: “Is there a way to tell if someone has
a life insurance policy on you?”
For someone to have insurance on you, there has to be
insurable interest. You must be in
business together, an employee, a spouse, a child, or a parent of the policy
owner. You cannot take out a policy on a
complete stranger.
Secondly, if you, the life insured, is above the age
of majority when the policy was applied for, you have to sign the policy
documents. If you were a child, that
means the policy was taken out by your parent or legal guardian, and upon the
age of majority, you should be informed.
