The following is my
answer to a Quora question: “If ISIS fighters were captured,
should they be executed or put on trial?”
If possible, they should be detained first. They are a source of intelligence on the
group, and should be adequately questioned.
If there is a need, they should be put on trial, although detention
without trial avoids a spectacle. The
problem with spectacles is that we make these people famous, and they are a
propaganda props. Personally, I am not
averse to a solution where these people are quietly executed, and their bodies
disposed of. This can only be done close
to the front. It is politically
problematic for it to be done in country.
