Quora Answer: Do You Believe People Who Have Joined ISIS Should be Jailed When They Return to Their Home Countries?

The following is my answer to a Quora question: “Do you believe that people that have joined ISIS should be jailed when they return to their home countries?”

Those who have joined ISIS should most certainly be arrested, and detained upon their return.  We cannot simply strip them of their citizenship, and put them beyond our jurisdiction to plot against us from elsewhere.  And we cannot allow them to escape the consequences of sedition and crimes against humanity.  Not only must justice be served, justice must also be seen to be served.  This is important because we must inculcate into the community how serious these acts are, and make an example of these people.  They should be executed.  There is no clemency, there is not appeals to mercy, there is no place for misplaced compassion.
