On the 28th November 2019, I was at AIA
Toastmasters Club, as ah counter, and project evaluator.
The sergeant-at-arms was Liang Ye. The Toastmaster of the Day was David Low Chip
Hung. The timer was Frances Goh Ching
Yee. The table topics master was Eric
Tan Shi Wei. The workshop trainer was
Linda Lee. The creative director was Cindy
Gan Chia Ee.
Chng Pia Kim explained the steps required to plan a
long car journey. It was a comprehensive
presentation, from a mechanical, logistics, and even the practical tips gained
from experience.
Joy Chow Jie Lin gave a speech about the challenges she
faced motivating her team, and herself, in her time in the Executive Committee,
and the underpinning philosophy that grounded her, and allowed her to succeed.
Jack Sia Cheong Ghee gave a heartfelt account on the
need for proper succession planning, and the challenges of finding, and
grooming the right people. He drew on
his experience as an executive, and as a father.
Linda Lee conducted a workshop on speech and
drama. There was insight in how to train
our minds, our voices, and our body.
There were a lot of practical exercises.
And there were in depth explanations on how this benefits us, not just
in public speaking, but in our interactions, to create, maintain, and build
credibility.
The evaluators were Linda Lee, Eric Tan Shi Wei, and myself.
Best Speaker: Chng Pia Kim
Best Evaluator: Eric Tan Shi Wei; and
Best Table Topics Speaker: Margrette Lo Foong Quan.
