is the biggest payout the FDIC has ever made to customers of a single failed
bank?”
Regardless of the amount the customer
holds in deposits in his own name, the FDIC can only ever pay out to the limit
per depositor per bank in the event of bank failure. At the moment, that amount stands at
US$250,000.
