The following is my answer to a Quora
question: “Is
it illegal for me to use my twin brother’s insurance card at the hospital if my
insurance was cancelled?”
You are not your twin, no matter how alike
you are, even if you share identical DNA. This is insurance fraud, and both of you can
get in trouble. If you took the card
without his knowledge, then you have also committed identity theft. Legalities aside, this complicates his
medical record, and his future coverage because he might be recorded as having
a pre-existing condition that is actually yours. There might be complications in his treatment
should he be taken ill in the future.
