The following is my answer to a Quora
question: “Is
there a life insurance with disability rider?”
Most whole life plans and term life plans
have a disability rider which we call “Total & Permanent Disability”. However, the definition of what constitutes it
is still the same, which is the inability to perform two of the six activities
of daily living. There are also
insurance policies that cover solely disability. There are also options for premium waiver upon
claim from the policy, or upon the disability of the policy owner even though
he is not the life insured. There are
options out there, and I suggest you speak to a broker, or a financial services
consultant.
