Winter’s Heart

Is it cold outside?

The darkest night.

With glittering eyes,

And still it defies.

The blade is keen.

Sheathed and unseen.

The armour is worn.

Of ornaments, shorn.

The heart is cold.

Only fire, be told.

Those glittering eyes,

Where warm memory dies.

Words have been said,

And dark promises laid.

I will never cry again.

I will never feel pain.

A shouldered pack,

Not looking back.

Out into the dark.

To plains stark

Is it cold outside?

It is cold inside.

I am winter’s heart.

Now shall I depart.
