Foreign Phrase of the Day: Signeur Terraces

There are words or phrases we need to borrow from other languages.  From French, that phrase of the day is “Signeur terraces”.  Signeur” simply means “lord”, while “terraces” refers to the open balconies or the outside verandah of cafes, found all over France.  Signeur terraces” literally means “Lords of the Balconies”.

This is a colloquial term, referring to people who sit at cafes, buy one drink, and then hog the seats.  They are not worth the money they spend at the establishment.  It could easily apply to the multitudes of people who sit at Starbucks, or some coffee joint, and the study and have little discussions.
