Clarity TMC as Project Evaluator, 21st October 2019

On the 21st October 2019, I was at Clarity Toastmasters Club, as project evaluator.  This was my 95th club visit on the 113th day of the Toastmaster year.

The sergeant-at-arms was Clive Chng, the Toastmaster of the Day was Ang Ming Song, the table topics master was Beatrice, the language evaluator was Margrette Lo Foong Quan, the timer was Gary Tsu, and the ah counter was Florence.

Vernon Lim Cham Lak gave a short presentation about why people should join Toastmasters.  He expounded on the need to be able to speak impromptu.

Brandon Ng, in his opening address, continued on the theme and segued into the club’s branding, and the chapter mission.

Calvin spoke about his weight loss journey, and how he gained inspiration from people such as Christian Bale.

Nao is Japanese, and she explained the meaning of her name, and how she ended up in Singapore.  Since young, her ambition was to travel.  She chose Singapore because of its cosmopolitan mix of East and West, and to master English.

Ernest Tung spoke about discrimination, and stereotypes.  He recounted his experience overseas, and how he was stereotyped for being ethnically Chinese, and compared it to the situation faced by minorities in Singapore.

Garen Tee Hang Chung gave an interpretative reading of a section of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s “The Little Prince”.  It is a challenging book, and it was a challenging passage.

The evaluators were myself, Brandon Ng, Ang Ming Song, Quek Li Lin, and Joshua Tay W. H.

Best Speaker: Calvin;
Best Evaluator: Joshua Tay W. H.; and
Best Table Topics Speaker: Guest.
