The following is my answer to a Quora question: “Do you need a CPA or CFA to get into venture capital?”
You do not need to be a certified public accountant, or a chartered
financial analyst to go into venture capital.
Those are the qualifications of people who are hired by venture capitalists,
not necessarily the ones who run it. It is
good to have some background and qualifications, but what is more important is to
have the network, the ability to think quickly, and an analytical mind. Passing examinations will not give you that.
