The following is my answer to a Quora question: “Is it a logical fallacy if you insist a statement is wrong, but cannot prove the statement is wrong?”
If you insist on something contrary to proof, or without basis, it
is a non sequitur fallacy. A non
sequitur fallacy is an illogic where the evidence does not follow the
premise, or outright contradicts it. In
this case, the deductive argument is rendered invalid on the basis of faulty
reasoning, or even nonreasoning.
