The following is my answer to a Quora question: “What should I consider before agreeing to sell life insurance on the side?”

Personally, you should reconsider.  Life insurance is not something you can sell on the side.  To even qualify to be a financial consultant requires sitting for, and passing, a series of examinations to get certified.  And then, there is the regular need to be updated on changes in regulations, product information, and training hours.  A lot is invested into becoming a professionally competent financial consultant.  If you are starting out, it is definitely not something you can do “on the side”.
