Mark Twain once said, “A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the Sun is shining, but wants it back the minute it begins to rain.” It is true, in a sense, since bank only offers you credit when you have funds. Insurance, however, is about keeping that umbrella for you, because you will need it when it rains, and when it does rain, not only gives you that umbrella, but an extra change of clothes in case you got wet waiting for that umbrella.
Some would say, why buy insurance for
themselves, because we all die anyway.
We do not buy insurance because we will die, but because the people we
love will continue to live after we die, and they need some help maintaining
their standard of living without our income.
It is an act of love.
