The following is my answer to a Quora question: “What should I consider before leaving Toastmasters? The club that I am in is irritating to be in due to lack of self-responsibility. People do not fulfill their roles and I find myself picking up the slack. I am a newer member of only a few months.”
You should consider leaving the club, and changing your membership to another club. There are thousands of clubs all over the world. These clubs vary in quality and standards, as well as in culture and flavour. Choose a club that suits you.
Clubs where the membership has no discipline do not last. They decline, and the better members leave for better clubs. If the ship is sinking, and you are a newer member, it makes sense to leave. You are not invested in the history of the club, and even if you were, one person cannot change a toxic culture.
