Quora Answer: Is It Illegal to Depict Jesus or Buddha in Our Brand Logo in Singapore?

The following is my answer to a Quora question: “Is it illegal to depict Jesus or Buddha on our brand logo in Singapore?

It is an offence under the Maintenance of Religious Harmony Act (Cap 167A) to offend the religious sensibilities of others.  Doing so would likely be considered as such, and invite prosecution.

That aside, Singaporeans are generally religious conservatives, and this is not an example of successful branding.  I fail to see the logic of immediately alienating a large part of the population, and a potential customer base.
