Our EVs: The Secret is in the Wheels

Indigo Motors is a subsidiary of Quantum Age Holdings Corporation, and developed the motors for our electric vehicles, as well as the concept design and the micro factories for quick deployment.  Indigo Motors began when a team of MIT engineers set out to answer a basic question: “How do you move a person most efficiently at speed?”  The result is an e-vehicle that will define the future of mobility.

The secret is not under the hood, since it is all about the wheel.  Indigo Motors was founded by a professor at MIT, Prof. Ian Hunter.  The electric vehicle motor, housed in the wheel, is a product of over 40 MIT engineers, decade long work in stealth mode, backed by over 50 patents, and multiple trade secrets.

Today’s vehicles are not ready for the future of mobility.  They are still being built along the lines of how it was a hundred years ago, but with modern materials.  Indigo envisions a radical redesign of the automobile made possible by its modular in-wheel motor.  These redesigns include a lightweight frame which extends the range on existing battery chemistries; modular in-wheel motors to free up space, improve aerodynamics, and provide surface for photovoltaic panels; and integrated active suspension to provide unparalleled handling, safety, and ride quality in small vehicles.

One of our solution is the Traction T-1 motor.  Modular motors are vehicle agnostic, maximising configurability and economies of scale.  The Traction T-1 is an efficient in-wheel power module with integrated active suspension.  It enables small vehicles through increased cabin space – in-wheel motors allow flexible vehicle configurations.  It has active suspension, which compensates for changing road surface and vehicle loading while improving handling and safety.  They are low cost because highly integrated design replaces multiple expensive components.  Most importantly, they are safe.  The low voltage 48 VDC design eliminates dangerous cables and batteries.  The Traction T-1 enables autonomy through motion sickness compensation.  It provides inertial cues generated by active suspension.  There is improved ride comfort, since the active suspension greatly reduces the bump of road surfaces.

Quantum Age’s electric vehicles will be manufactured in Southeast Asia under Quantum Motors.  Quantum Motors is a joint venture between Quantum Age Holdings Corporation, and Red Sycamore, which is raising the funds to fund the manufacture and distribution of these vehicles.
