Foreign Word of the Day: Schnapsidee

There are words we need to borrow from other languages.  From German, that word of the day is “schnapsidee”.  “Schnapsidee” is a compound word, from the German “schnaps”, meaning “strong liquor”; and “idee”, meaning “idea”.  Literally, it means “drink idea”.  “Schnapsidee” is an idea or plan conceived while you are drunk, or an idea or plan that sounds so ridiculous, so ludicrous, that you may as well have been drunk when you thought it up.
