The following is my answer to a Quora question: “How much does it cost you, if you want to fire your financial advisor?”
That really depends on how good he was, what he advised you, and the nature of the contract. This cost is if he represented you to the insurers and other financial institutions. There should be no cost, if the financial advisor represented the financial institution to you.
Putting aside the issue of the contract, firing your financial advisor does not necessarily extricate you from the policies and financial decisions made. Transitioning from a previous financial decision can be expensive and take a lot of time. As such, you must have a good reason to get rid of him.
